After the drama of a tyre blow out on the motorway, eventually the whole squad arrived in Birmingham. The start was delayed for 30 mins to allow everyone to focus on the job in hand. Hucclecote started well, opening up a narrow 3 goal lead after the first 15 mins with some clinical shooting from Rosie Allison & Thea Thompson. The 2nd Q was evenly contested & with Yas Hodge England & Ella Powell Davis in defence turning numerous ball, the 3 goal gap remained the same at half time. The 3rd Q proved to be the turning point. Linden stepped up their game, using their height advantage mid court to pressurise Hucclecote getting the ball through court. Momentum was certainly with the home team & from 17 attempts in the 2 Q Hucclecote`s shooters only had 8 attempts in the 3rd compared to Lindens 17! At 3/4 time Linden had edged into a 2 goal lead. Changes for the final 15 had an impact. Kellie Hull at Gk rebounded well & with Hodge England & then Powell Davis, curtailed the Linden shooters to only 12 attempts at goal. However possession was still squandered through court as Hucclecote were forced into numerous errors, throwing ball into the hands of the 3foot markers. Once again shooting attempts were few, but Yas Hodge England now at GA, netted 5/6 with Allison 4/6. Overall it was a disappointing result losing 41-45 but gaining that extra point from the loss may prove crucial in the quest to return to Prem Div 1. The result leaves Hucclecote in 2nd slot, but only 1 point ahead of 3 teams hot on their heels.
