Another road trip for Prem which took us to Grangetown for what turned out to be a close encounter. HNC had another new attacking line up with Shaunagh Craig joining Rosie Allison in the circle along with Clare Jones at C and Shona O`Dwyer at WA. Both teams had slow starts but it was Grangetown who too the early lead with a 6 goal run leading 7- 1. Changes from the bench saw Jane Taylor take GA with Sarah Terese Adams moving into C and Jones moving back to WD. This worked better for HNC who closed the Q 14 - 10. The second Q was much better. Attempts on goal increased and errors dropped. At half time Cote had won the Q and closed the gap to 2 goals. GAME ON !! Unfortunately the errors crept back in the third Q but we knuckled down and saw some great graft from the newly formed defensive duo of Craig and Chloe Cubello with Harriet Sanderson also working hard against Grangetowns Ash Neal (fresh from Fast 5 semi final) and Niamh McCall (Scotland International). Although we were still down the team managed to maintain their fight as we went into the final Q 6 goals down. Never going down without a fight we came out with purpose for the last Q. We picked up turnovers which when moved through court with speed were netted by Allison and Taylor. Finding themselves 10 goals down HNC stepped up a gear and surged ahead with a 6 goal run suddenly finding themselves in touching distance. Grange town responded with 1 goal before HNC finished the better team once again hitting another 5 goal run taking the score to 58- 57. One final attack saw a well placed feed find JT. She turned to post and shot sinking the mid range attempt. Some confusion followed as the bench believed the ball had dropped well before the umpires whistle. Sadly this wasn`t given and the final score ended 58-57 to Grangetown 🤬
