Thunder were up against joint top of the division last weekend - Freestylers.  With a team of 9 this week and losing Rose to an ankle Injury we knew it would be a tough game.  We made a great start and some excellent circle rotations with Millie and Lorna being fed by Deya and Ruby put us 6 ahead at the end of the first quarter.  Maudie, Grace and Morgan turned a lot of ball in defence which saw us push out our lead to 8 at the start of the 2nd quarter.  Unfortunately this is when things started to change. Freestylers defence started to shut down our shooters with some very close one on one marking which made it hard to feed the circle.  The 8 goal lead ebbed away but we still lead at the end of the 2nd quarter.  We made a change to the shooting circle bringing on Emelia at GA.  This was a big ask as whilst Emelia has played shooter before it’s not something we’ve practiced and she didn’t have the chance to put up some shots.  Considering this she did a great job working alongside Kate as WA.  Unfortunately at the end of the 3rd quarter our lead was wiped out and the momentum switched to Freestylers.  We dug deep but just couldn’t get the ball into the circle.  We ended up losing by 10 final score being 40-50.  If we were to play them again I do think it would be a different result.
