Hucclecote took the court with confidence, even with enforced late changes due to to injuries. Rosie Pretorious starting at GK was a welcome sight back in Hucclecote kit for the first time this season. She teamed up with Jack Gabriel in the circle & the "old" partnership didn't take long  to pressurise the Leyton shooters. Play was fairly even in the first 15 minutes, but Hucclecote had edged into a 5 goal lead by the interval.

Michelle Dowle stepping in at GS had a super game, teaming up with Gemma Gray. Their movement & inter play belied the fact that they haven't played together all season. During the 2nd quarter, they netted 18 goals between them & with Neala Brennan & Lauren Brooks both feeding well, Hucclecote stretched their lead to 13.

Changes at half time with Amy Godwin coming on at GK, Pretorious moving out to GD & Gabriel into the Centre position, made an immediate impact. Godwin made a couple of flying intercepts outside the circle & Gabriel at C doggedly stuck to her opposite number. An unfortunate injury to Kerry Walsh at WD meant she had to retire from court, being replaced by Lauren Brooks.

When the ball moved through court at speed & with precision, Leyton were left standing & with Dowle & Gray being provided with quality feeds, Hucclecote extended their lead to 16. A number of unforced errors crept into the game during the final quarter, allowing Leyton to close the deficit slightly, but to no avail as Hucclecote left the court worthy winners.
