Hucclecote B 47 v Poole Hoppers 49

Hucclecote were unable to break their run of bad luck this week as they narrowly missed out on the all-important 5 points against Poole.

Due to unavailability a new line up took to the court at Talbot Heath School and started well. Goals were matched and Hucclecote looked especially strong in attack. Becky Deo at WA was quick and made superb drives to feed Kellie Hull (GS) and Millie Price (GA).  The score at the end of the 1st Q was 12 16 in Poole's favour.

Changes were made in defence to try and contain Poole's accurate GS. Hayley Neate marked well at GK, combined with Katharine Chadwick at GD and Lucy Werrell at WD, put Poole under added pressure. However by half time Hucclecote were still trailing 24 27.

More changes at half time saw Becky Campbell come back into the defensive end. Hucclecote needed to step up a gear in order to gain the lead. Poole came out strong and added quickly to their score line with no response from Cote. Wayward feeds and some poor decision making from Hucclecote gave Poole even more of an edge.  Poole dominated as Hucclecote struggled to get out of second gear. Score at end of Q3 31 42 to Poole.

The final quarter was make or break for Hucclecote. After a stern team talk they took to court to win the quarter.  Lucy Werrell went to GK and took impressive interceptions and rebounds. Her tight marking made it hard for Poole to feed their circle. Through court play improved and Hucclecote looked like their old selves again. Accurate shooting from Hull saw her net 14/14 shots and bring her side back into contention. A great team effort saw Cote claw themselves back in the game, sadly just not enough minutes on the clock. The final score 47 49.
