Storm slipped to defeat and with it lost their hopes of promotion to Divison 2.  Gilly Salter and Eve Johnson were called into the seven following a couple of late withdrawls, and the re-shuffled team played well against physical opponents, matching them shot for shot in a high scoring first quarter to trail by 13-14, with Lily Simmonds (GA) feeding superbly off experienced and intelligent inter-play from Gilly (GS) in the shooting circle.  This developed further in the second period, and with 13/14 successful attempts on goal and sound defence from Iona Wong (GK), Tash Johnson (GD) and Sharon Greening (WD) Storm found themselves 4 goals up at the half-way break (26-22).  However, despite increasing the lead to 6 early in the third quarter, some errors slipped in and a combination of accurate shooting from their opponents and some frustrating umpiring calls, Saints eeked out a 3 goal lead (37-34).  While at one point in the fourth it looked like the game was over, Lily and Gilly, in combination with a tireless performance at Centre from Mary Crapper kept Storm in with a late shout.  Bringing the scores level at 44-44, Saints managed to get themselves in front in the final minutes to take the game.

Lily was awarded player of the match by Saints, netting 38 goals from 44 attempts on goal (86%).

Thanks to Gilly and Eve for helping the team in a hard-fought game.
