Hucclecote Comets   52  V Almondsbury  42

Hucclecote Comets proved how slick they can be when they stayed in control of the game against a very talented and physically strong Almondsbury side.

The first quarter actually saw Comets off the blocks at a really quick pace and this left Almondsbury standing.  Fabulous shooting between Milly Price and Betsy Willie scoring 13 from 14 attempts , slick passing in attack between Kate Nicholls and Becky Vaughn  and pressure defending, particularly by Ella Harvey all aided Hucclecotes dominant start leaving them 6 goals ahead at the end of the first phase.

The second quarter saw Almondsbury raise the bar and they came back on court fighting hard.  Hucclecote switched Cambell to GD and this impacted seeing her force some ball. Hucclecote then slipped back a bit and began to make a few unforced errors throughout all areas of the court .  The Almondsbury shooters also found their range leaving the score as previously with Hucclecote 6 goals up 23-17.

The third quarter saw Harvey , who was having a storming game at the back, switch to GS for Hucclecote and with Tee Idahosa taking on the GK bib and Stayley coming onto the WD , these changes proved strong.  The physical challenges however , particularly in the top half of the court went unpunished and this upset their rhythm for a short while.

The final quarter saw the attacking end with one change with Willie coming onto the GA switching with team mate Price to support Harvey.  This made an instant impact with Willies feeding ability absolutely on top form to Harvey who dominated the space as if she owned it.  Vaughan and Nicholls again put in some precision feeds and started to help increase the lead.

At the back end, Jo Hutchings worked hard in 1st phase defence along with Deo and they worked hard to close down Almondsbury defence.  Hucclecote produced a final 15 minute surge to take a fantastic victory by 10 goals winning 52 42 with Ella  Harvey gaining player of the match proving to be a strength at both ends.  The 5 points gained were well deserved in a game that again proved tough through until the end.
