Hucclecote Comets Plymouth Marjon

Hucclecote did the double victory this weekend and after a great 61-37 win yesterday, travelled away to Plymouth to take another huge win 55 goals to 37.

The squad who travelled with just 7 players consisting of 3 Regional, 3 Hurricanes and Katie Noonan, took the first quarter strongly with some outstanding shooting from Tash Watson and some great interceptions from Noonan at WD taking them to a four goals lead 16-12,

Marjon were not prepared to sit back and with some slick defending, changed tactics doubling up on Watson and this forced errors from Cote during this phase.  Marjon crept back into the game although Cote remained 25-23 up at half time.

Dynamic play saw Watson and Wiley change their tactical play to a moving shooting circle and this opened up opportunities and helped them to net 17 goals to Marjons 5 in this period.  Young 15 year old Shona O'Dwyer playing up a level fed some great feeds in and her linkages through court with Helen Werrell, which was fast, paced left Marjon standing. Tee Idahosa, new to Hucclecote this season really stepped up her game and with Jo Hutchinson and Katie Noonan working hard together denied Marjon possession.

Idahosa continued her dominant ways stealing four clean wonderful intercepts, and with the team sniffing victory Marjon could do little to contest an excellent display by Hucclecote who eventually ran out winners 55 goals to 37.

Thanks to Lucy Werrell for supporting on the bench and helping with stats and to Betsy Willeys Mum for scoring , particularly as it was Mothering Sunday.  With one game remaining, Comets should be proud that they will finish their season with a mid table position which is a credit to a squad that have a totally different look to last year's team members.
