Hucclecote Comets v Pinehurst 61-37
Huclecote breezed to a great victory against Pinehurst reversing their earlier loss in the season to a positive 61-37 victory.
Ella Harvey at GS was a target that Pinehurst struggled to contend with, and with Helen Werrel, back from her Australian travels, she made a huge impact with precision feeds , great speed through court and worked tirelessly turning ball.Hucclecote took an early 17-8 first quarter lead, and left the line as it was.
Magical play at times saw the ball flow through court, and with 15 year Annabel Stayley taking some balls at full stretch,Hucclecote's lead extended to 33-18 at half time.
Defensively, Issy Clarke came on at half time at WD and combined strongly with the back Unit putting pressure on Pinehurst centre pass. Tee Idahosa at GK had her best game for Comets so far, and putting on good positional pressure and taking some intercepts and rebounds strongly. Whether it was Becky Campbell or Jo Hutchingson in support, defensively they worked hard to turn more ball and with Tash Watson now on for Ella Harvey at GS Cote continued to pull further away ending the third period 48 goals to 26.
The final 15 was a little messy and with Harvey back on to GS,Hucclecote continued to dominate with Betsy Willy feeding her partner well as well as netting 75% in the final quarter. The end result has secured their place in Division 2 this season and could well see them on a final run to end up mid table. A great result with Helen Werrell gaining Coaches player of the game andplayers player, and Annabel Stayley earning the opposions vote for player of the game.
