Hurricanes v Lightning 49-37
This match always brings the best out of Lightning & this time was no exception!
For 's of the match Lightning were within 5 goals. Some great shooting by Alicia Joynes ( 17/20 attempts) kept then in contention. Her performance earning her player of the match for Lightning.
Hurricanes shooters were also on song, netting 49/60 between them.
Mid court, Nikki Carvey, Jodie Webb & Kirsty Trueman moved the ball through court at speed, though Lightning did force them to make errors. Katie Noonan, Sarah Amey and Georgie Chillingworth worked hard to stem their flow and played with care to get the ball to Kat Honeywill at GA & Joynes at GS.
Both sets of defenders worked well, putting the shooters under pressure, particularly the partnership between Hari Caple & Lizza Mitchell for Lightning.
An unfortunate injury to GS Joynes who had to leave the court during the 3rd quarter, meant a re shuffle. At that point Lightning only trailed by 4 goals.
Hurricanes edged ahead during the final 15 mins to win by 12 which was not really a true reflection of the majority of the match.
Helen Harrod had a good game in her debut match for Lightning in defence & attack.
