Hucclecote Stars 67 v Weston 27

A squad of 9 travelled to Nailsea for a late game against bottom of the league Weston.  Stars were relaxed and confident as they took to court. Starting strongly in attack were Captain Michelle Dowle Gemma Gray, Anna Howells-Joll and Beth Webb. They moved the ball quickly and both shooters were converting confidently. By the end of this quarter we were up by 10.

The second quarter saw Jodie Webb, stepping up from Comets, take to WD. She hassled the WA well putting pressure on her every move. This saw Webb rewarded with tips and possession from loose balls. At the back Claire Richards continued her run of great play securing rebounds, tips and interceptions at every opportunity (no death screams this week though!!). Her partnership with Lucy Werrell at WD is proving a great combination. By half time Cote had charged ahead leading 33 14

Stars had a slight dip in the third quarter when focus wavered. Play at times wasn't the standard that this team have demonstrated over the season but in true Hucclecote spirit the fourth quarter saw the girls back to their powerful, dominating self. The final 15 minutes saw Cote score the most goals per quarter all game (21) and defence were picking off balls through court and in the circle.

The 5 points gained from this win keep Stars at the top of the table (4 points ahead with 1 game in hand).
