Hucclecote played host to Raychem for which Cote anticipated to be a closely fought game.
We started strong with Captain Michelle Dowle leading from the front. Great court play saw Dowle utilise space effectively and convert her shots with ease. Defensively Claire Richards and Lucy Werrell worked well. Their excellent positioning made Raychem's shooting unit worked hard to penetrate the circle.
In midcourt the ball was moved swiftly by Beth Webb and Sarah Adams who are developing a great attacking partnership. However the star of the day was Thea Thomson who dominated at WD taking impressive interceptions at every opportunity. The talented youngster showed great decision making and discipline in all 4 quarters gaining her the well-deserved player of the match.
Even though Hucclecote had gained a convincing 34 – 12 lead by half time Raychem still came out fighting in the third Q. During this 15 minutes it's fair to say Hucclecote's focus wandered and at times Raychem looked the better team. For the last Q Hucclecote quickly regrouped and once again played great Netball. Thomson continued to impress in the circle at GD working well under the watchful eye of Richards who directed the circle like a pro.
Shooting Stats: (Michelle Dowle 24/28 = 86%), (26/34 = 76%) , (Paige Reed 9/12 = 75%)
