Hucclecote Stars 59 v Raychem 44

Stars travelled to Raychem for the top of the league clash looking to secure yet another 5 points and remain undefeated in RL2. With Raychem needing a point from the game in order to secure promotion we knew they would come out fighting.

The first 15 started well with Stars new defensive combo of Thea Thomson and Lucy Werrell making the Raychem shooters work hard. What Thomson lacked in height she certainly made up for in tenaciousness, defying gravity to take several overhead balls aimed for Raychem's GS. By the end of the quarter Stars were 6 goals ahead.

With no changes made Stars continued to punish Raychem and when pressure was applied the Hucclecote side turned ball and capitalised on Raychem's errors. Great team work between Sarah Adams and Beth Webb defending the centre pass gained Stars possession which was swiftly taken to goal. However Raychem dug deep and after a dip mid quarter by Hucclecote they only increased their lead by 1 more goal. Score line 31-24.

The second half saw Stars to continue notching up goals with another impressive game from Paige Reed. A confident Reed was strong in the air. Slick and accurate feeds from Adams and Becky Deo were finding her with ease.

The final Q saw the best 15 minutes of netball from Cote. A great team effort with all players lifting their game finally saw Stars surge ahead. 100% shooting from captain Michelle Dowle during this quarter proved why Stars deserve their place in RL1 next season.
