Hucclecote U.14 A prove too strong for Chelts A Score

HNC  win 36 - 11

Hucclecote U.14's had their first taste of U.14 League Netball after their first fixture a month ago was conceded byRandwick.

Hungry to get on court, it was no surprise to see Hucclecotestorm into a confident lead with Jane Taylor at GA in outstanding form.  With a new partner in the shooting circle, Ellie Parker, who opend up huge space , the attack looked slick leading them to a 9 2 goal lead.

The second quarter saw a few changes which initially unsettled Hucclecote however Lucy Martin worked tirelessly at Centre enabling the link through court to go smoothlyhelping to increase their lead to 16-5 at half time.

The third quarter saw Carys Jones on to C linking with EmmeHale and these two played some great  netball, with EmmeHale taking some great balls at full stretch and Jones turning over two great steals.  Chelts had little reply to the strength and depth Hucclecote showed, and with Lucy Martin now at GA netting 9 from 10 shots 90% in this quarter alone,Hucclecote extended their lead to 30 goals to 7 .

With Hucclecote dominating in all areas of court , CoachGilly Salter was able to give her squad of 10 plenth of court time each, and was able to see new players that she has not worked with in the past compete.  Jane Taylor played GD for the second phase of play and did it with ease as she turned a huge number of interceptions  working tightly with IssyRobinson and Hannah McCoubrie who both played well.

Freya Channon came back on to WD, and last year's Year 8 shooting combination of Alice Bradley with Nina Perryshowed some good movement.  Opportunity was plenty in terms of taking ball to goal but a low conversion rate showedthat the squad still have work to do in shooting technique, passing strongly and consistency of shots.  Jane Taylor earned herself Coaches player of the match for a fabulous first performance showing great drives at GA and great dominance in turnover rate at GD.

The overall score though was a fabulous first victory for the young Hucclecote squad who ran out winners with a very comfortable 36-11 win.
