Hucclecote U.14 B 54 v Challengers 2
The U.14 B Squad took one of their biggest victories ever over Tewkesbury side Challengers on Sunday. A fairly new line up under the captaincy of Nina Perry demonstrated some outstanding netball and played with great flair.
During the first quarter, the front three of Tiana Waldron, Perry and Alice Bradley were unstoppable as Challengers failed to stop the ball getting through. This enabled Hucclecote to take an early lead by 13 goasl to 1. Meanwhile, Jodie Ems and Katie Rucker stayed tight at the back end and with Freya Channon marking tightly, and with Amy Morse making the link through court work, Hucclecote led 13-1 at the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter saw changes with Emily Yates pairing with Zara Norma at GS and GA respectively. Captain Nina Perry moved on to the WA and once again, this unit were also unstoppable with both shooters on top form leading them to a 21-1 lead at half time. Defensively, Becky Patten worked tirelessly and with Bradly now at GK adding more heighty, Hucclecote looked strong.
The second half continued at the same pace and no matter what the combination Hucclecote excelled in every area of the court. Whether it was Rucker out at GD, or Bradley switching from end to end , or Jodie Ems moving into mid court, Challengers had little reply. This was an outstanding day for theU.14 B Squad and one that showed they have huge potential in this league with much flexibility throughout every area of court.
The final score of 54 goasl to 2 was an absolute credit to them and very well deserved.
