HNC Stars 46 v Crossbow 24

Stars played host to Crossbow in Round 5 of NSW RL1. With 2 key players missing Stars showed how versatile a squad they are with Thea Thompson stepping into the GA role and Becky Deo at GD.

Unfazed by the new combination Stars started strong with Thompson netting 7 from 7 in the first quarter. It was clear she was enjoying her run in attack. Stars finished 10-3 up after the first 15 minutes.

Entering the second quarter Stars dipped. Their normal fluid and slick through court play became disjointed and at times Crossbow were able to counter attack. With their GA CherieVaites finding her form Crossbow drew the quarter 8-8.

The second half of the game saw Stars get their consistency back. Helen Werrell took numerous turnovers and was causing the Crossbow WA real problems.

Stars secured the all-important 5 points which now secures them the number 2 spot in the league standings. With only 1 point between them and Aquarians the game of the season is surely still to come on 30th November.
