Hucclecote Jaguars v Cirencester A
Sitting at the top of the league, Ciren were always going to be a tough opposition and Jaguars knew they had their work cut out. After a steady first few minutes with the ball flying end to end, interceptions from Hannah McCoubrie and CaitlinSantacroce ensured Jaguars scored from six centre passes in a row and the team started to pull away from Ciren. The combination of Emily Yates and Jodie Emms in the shooting circle worked wonderfully with the pair netting the ball confidently, aided by sensible feeds into the circle from CarysJones and Freya Channon. A great first 12 minutes gave Jaguars a lead of 7 at quarter time.
The second quarter came with changes to the mid court and the squad took a while to settle, at times the ball was rushed and forced into the circle leading to Cirens dynamic defence turning possession. Ciren began to close the gap and rushed passes and unforced errors from Jaguars aided in this. In the final few minutes of the quarter the girls began to settle and find the rhythm they had demonstrated in the previous quarter.
Going into the third quarter with a lead of three, Jaguars knew they had to start strongly. Pressure through court from Jenny Graham, Milly Boorman and Hannah Jordan forced the error from Ciren and aided in allowing Charlotte Ferkin and Caitlin to pick off the ball and direct it back to our shooting circle, again unforced errors from cote made this harder at times but the girls kept their heads high and reacted well to change of possession, fighting to get the ball back.
The final quarter saw Freya back on court along withCharleigh Shaw, the pair combined well with Jenny at C and Freya made numerous on point feeds into Emily and Jodie who continued their impressive shooting combination. The final quarter saw Jaguars step up another gear and really extenuate their lead.
Everyone in the squad fought for this win and as a coach I could not be prouder of them.
