Hucclecotes first fixture of the season took them over 200 miles to Truro in Cornwall where the opposition had Hucclecote's Shooter from last season Emily Yates making her debut for the St Austell team following her recent move to the area.

The 1st quarter was tightly contested with some great play from both teams and although Hucclecote took a 3 goal lead , it was the opportunities presented by Michaela Iffil at WA feeding both shooters well that helped to achieve this.  Consistency of shot was below par during their first quarter whilst Yates and England U.17 Becky Cantin converted 10 of their 12 shots in comparison to Hucclecote 12 out of 19.

The 2nd quarter saw Sarah Lee take the centre bib and with Jane Stringer GD taking the iniative in defence Hucclecote 's rythm settled.  Stringer as always pulled off some outstanding interceptions and she worked well with Rosie Barrett who kept the pressure on along with Charl Johnson helping Hucclecote to extend their lead further by 26-16 at the half way stage.

With 2 Hucclecote players feeling unwell, Carly Taylor came on at GA , and with a stoppage towards the latter part where Iffil had to leave the court, Anna Joll took the WA bib for the final 5 minutes. This unsettling period enabled St Austell to get into their stride with their shooters converting 100% in this quarter and only allowing Hucclecote an additional goal advantage leaving the score at 39-28 going into the final 15.

Superb umpiring throughout the whole game aided both teams, and a switch with Taylor to GS replacing Gemma Hallbrook and with Hannah Faulkner taking the WD bib.  Faulkner made an impression in this position taking 2 clean intercepts as well as tipping and marking tightly.  Overall, Hucclecote had huge amounts of possession but at times this was wasted through mid-court and conversion to goal.  However, their established lead enabled them to take the victory by 49 goals to 40.

This was a great effort for their run out with Michaela Iffil in outstanding form on the day.
