Hucclecote Dragons 20 v Team Bath 14
Dragons knew they. were capable of beating a tidy Team Bath side if they reduced their error rate from the last encounter and this they did to ensure a positive 6-3 score at the end of the first quarter. Megan Knight had an awesome game at WD stealing 3 clean intercepts in the first ten minutes and played her best netball so far. Combined with Maddie Norwood making her debut at GD and with their captain Harriet Sanderson at the back , they certainly made life tough for Bath to take the ball to goal. One switch saw Amy Cook to WA and Olivia Garrard to Centre. The drives to circle edge by both players enabled them to find and feed Katya At GS with ease as she confidently netted 6-6 in this period helping Dragons to a 12-6 lead at half time . With Phoebe Gerard on at GK and their captain back out at GD Dragons continued to press hard however Dragons error rate began to increase and this reduced opportunities to goal but they still led 16-9 at 3/4 time. The last quarter saw further changes and whilst they maintained the lead Bath had 3 clear runs at goal and began to hit back. With Bath now limiting the opportunity to Dragons GS Katya Jennings she stayed strong and still scored consistently achieving 83% overall . Megan Knights earlier performance at WD saw her clinch the player of the match and Hucclecote rallied home winners 20 goals to 14. This moves them into third place leaving Bath behind in 4th on 4 points less and Poole just slightly ahead. With a bit more work this squad could challenge the Poole teams in their next encounter as they are improving week on week . Thanks to our scorers and umpires who did a tremendous job on the day .
