This weekend saw the first stages of the newly formed Netball South West League taking place at U.14 age group. With pressure in the region to compete for national placings, Les Thomas , Chair of the South West Competitions Group, along with some other members has been instrumental in helping to set this up.

Hucclecote U14 Dragons aim was to compete to get into the 1st Division for the forthcoming season, and to do this, there were three sections of 5 teams, with the top 1st and 2nd place teams gaining automatic entry into this league.
Hucclecote looked slick in their new U.14 tops sponsored Jackets by Dragon Alfa Cement in Sharpness.  The Dragons went on to win 3 out of 4 games, and although nervous, took victory against Yeovil, 22-4,  Devizes 16-3, and St Agnes from Cornwall 21-12. Their match against Poole Emeralds, a well know club in Dorset, proved a different level however, and Poole ran away with a convincing win 20 goals to 5.
The 15 points on the table secured the 1st Division status, where Hucclecote now know they have a lot more to do , if they want to retain a top 4 position to gain a play off to National Finals next Spring.
