Carly Taylor won the Coaches and Team Vote today after an outstanding 2nd half performance netting a huge 92% during this period.
Hucclecote's defensive performance during the first quarter of their game showed dominance, and though they turned over 7 clear interceptions, and created 15 attempts at goal, it was an unusually slow start by the shooters Hallbrook and Joll, who scored only 8 out of 15 (53%) that led them to an 8 goal draw score at the first break.
After their quarter team talk, and with Michaela Iffil switching bibs with Sarah Lee (from WD to C), Hucclecote went out with all guns blazing and turned the game into to a one sided affair showing the power and flair that they are capable of using. Hallbrooks conversion lifted to 9/10 a (90%) during this period as did Anna Joll scoring 75%. This put them into a comfortable 23-13 lead for half time.
With Captain Jane Stringer back on court following her recent marriage, her dogged determination and commitment to steal ball worked brilliantly , and with Sarah Lee also dominating at WD , helped to restrict Roman Glass's attempts to just 9 in this quarter. At the same time, Carly Taylor took the GA bib for Hucclecote and had the most amazing quarter scoring 100% 8/8 goals and driving and taking ball with confidence. This lifted the whole attacking combination and with Rose Morgan Smith finding both shooters with ease they stamped their authority going into the final 15 minutes 37-20.
Michaela Iffil linked both ends well together and her speed , drive and agility showed. With Rosie Barret at GK driving out to steal ball, Hucclecote continued to steam ahead. It was only with 5 minutes to go that Carly Taylor who was the best form of her life had to leave the court through illness, and although this meant an instant change, the score line was never in doubt with Hucclecote securing a 50-29 victory.
