U14 Dragons v Jets

Dragons took on Jets in the first game of the day which saw dragons take a slight lead to finish the first quarter 4-1 up. Within quarters 2 and 3 Dragons extended their lead, the rotation movement within the shooting circle was good and the attack fed the shooters well. Defensively we pressured Jets which caused them to make errors which we were then able to convert to goals. Within the fourth quarter we drew 4-4 however we managed to hold on to win 20-12.

U14 Dragons v Cirencester

The second game of the day was against local team Cirencester. Dragons started slowly only being 4-1 up at quarter time however then really stepped their game up in the final 3 quarters showing why they deserve their place within Division 1. Defensively we put pressure on their attack to try and force errors and we moved the ball through court giving the first time release to get it to our shooters for the attempt at goal. Dragons went on to win 24-9 making it 2/2 wins so far on the day with one final game to play.

U14 Dragons v Raychem

The final game was against Raychem, we knew this was going to be a tough game however we had every confidence in the squad that they could achieve a win. The game started closely with Raychem only taking the lead by 1 goal at the end of the first quarter. Within the second quarter we scored 4 out of 4 attempts at goal however Raychem extended their lead to 9-7 however Dragons knew a win was still achievable. Within the final half Raychem extended their lead further, their shooters were extremely accurate netting almost all of their opportunities at goal scoring off any of our errors. We found it hard to turn the ball fully in this game throughout court and take to goal. Although we lost 21-13 we did get a point from this game and will take away things to learn from which we can then put right in future games.

After today‚Äôs results we are currently in 4th place which is amazing as we were unsure if we were even going to be in this division at the beginning of the season. It was a squad effort for the above matches and their results and we will continue to push to stay within the top 4 for the second half of the season to achieve that play-off place for National Finals.
