Comets made the journey to Exeter with a couple of players missing & players new to regional level of netball.
Play was very evenly contested for the first quarter with 13 goals apiece at the first interval.
Meg Randall @ GS netting 12/14matched Exeter’s very accurate shooter at the other end.
The combination of Nia Evans @ C & Darcey Scott @ WA meant the ball moved securely through court.
A change of defence by Exeter & some uncharacteristic footwork calls allowed the home team to edge into a slight 3 goal lead by half time.
The circle defence of Ehlana Drury & Harriet Sanderson worked tirelessly to deny the GS ball. This was done particularly well in the 3rd Q where she only had 7 attempts at goal. Both defenders turned ball & rebounded the odd missed shot well.
With Alex Baird @ GA playing with more confidence & making good decisions around the circle edge, Comets remained in the game.
Exeter were fast & athletic & looked as if they could run away with the game but with fresh legs in Ella Flatman @ WA & Georgie SP @ WD, Comets refused to give it up. Tee Cowley moving from the wing into the circle made 2 crucial intercepts which enabled Comets  to win the 3rd Q by 2.
Going into the final 15 only 1 down
the final Q was frantic from both teams. With Exeter’s circle defence restricting Comets shooters to only 10 attempts, they edged into a 5 goal lead.
It was a very encouraging performance by this young squad against a strong Exeter team unbeaten so far this season.
With error rate much improved from their last match, Comets left the court knowing they had played well, but also that they can improve going forward.
Opposition player of the match-
Harriet Sanderson
Coaches player- Meg Randal netting 31/36
