Comets secure their first win in the regional league!

With all games so far resulting in narrow losses, Comets finally got the win they so deserved.
In a really high scoring game where the shooters at both ends rarely missed - it was going to be down to the team with the  least error rate that would take the win.
In an evenly matched first half, play was fast & keenly contested.
Being 2 down after the first Q 14-16, the team re organised slightly, bringing Ella Flatman onto WA & the circle defence of Ehlana Drury & Izzy Robinson switching positions.
This change had an impact with Comets taking that Q by 3 goals to  be 1 up at half time 29-28.
It was however during the 3rd  Q that the game was really turned. Meg Randall who with Emily Lacey had been converting accurately, netted 14/14 to extend the lead further 47-41.
The circle defence began to unsettle the Royals shooters who missed the odd shot & with Izzy & Ehlana tipping & pouncing on any loose ball, Comets edged into a 10 goal lead in the final Q.
Accuracy through court in the 2nd half was much improved with Darcey Scott @ C controlling play supported by Kate Chaffey & Georgie Sutherland Pyatt.
Ella Flatman @ WA fed Randall particularly with precision, keeping a cool head against a very tight marking WD.
Comets showed their potential & spirit to take this win 62-53 which will certainly not be their last.
