Lightning had a great match against Randwick. With 9 players this week every player took to the court with their heads high and played well. The circle defence unit of Anna Toms and Lucy Werrell worked extremly well with both taking some steals to allow the Hucclecote attack to convert into goals. Lucy Smith had a great game at WD providing great support to both the circle defence as well as helping to bring the ball up court towards the attack and worked well with Helen Werrell.
Lightning struggled in the first quarter only achieving a 2 goal lead (7-5) and Randwick's defence kept the pressure on in the 2nd quarter ending the first half 17-15 to Lightning.
Lightning pushed it up a gear for the 3rd quarter but still struggled to smoothly bring the ball up to the attack but increased the lead to end the quarter 26-19. Pollyanna Banyard moved to WA this quarter and made some great drives to the top of the circle whilst Emma Mackenzie recoved quickly from being winded by the Randwick C.
New combinations each quarter worked well, Capt Kat Honeywill and Smith took back to the court in the final quarter while Stella Ben Hania and Wendy Burgess' shooting continued to be strong, the team ended on a 40-23 win.
