Final Score: WIN 58-35
Storm have made it to the half-way stage of the season unbeaten and in top form with a convincing win over Old Chelts 3B. With their usual low-key start and the opposition using their tall GS as their main outlet, the game was tied at 10-10 after the end of the first quarter. An injury to Sharon early in the second quarter brought about a re-shuffle with Ella moving to WD and Sam coming in at WA. As in recent weeks the team picked up their game in the second quarter and were ahead by 5 at the half-way stage (25-20), with Hannah making some excellent interceptions against the GS despite a very clear height disadvantage, ably supported by Eleri at GD. However, it was during the third quarter that Storm's superiority really began to show with an excellent team performance - Hannah and Eleri working hard as a unit to limit Old Chelts scoring opportunities, Ella making some superb interceptions and dominating her opposite number and Becky and Sam competing hard and combining well to feed the circle with quality ball. Iona and Lily completed the team effort, both fighting (quite literally) hard against some aggressive defending, with accurate shooting and good inter-play to take the lead to 41-28. The fourth quarter saw no let up, with Storm further extending their advantage, as the whole team worked to the final whistle, taking the game comfortably by 58-35. Lily netted 22 consecutive shots in the second half of the game, giving her a shooting percentage of 93% (39/42) which is better than a poke in the eye, which she also got.
This performance summed up the team's work ethic so far this season, as despite some regular players missing and an injury limiting the team to 7 available players for the best part of three quarters of the match, their quality really shone through.
