Roman Glass -
Hucclecote started off the game with none of their squad circle defence, with Jane Hicks moving up to the Prem squad and Claire Richards and Caroline Hughes not available. Fortunately for the Regional One squad, Anna Toms, Hannah Faulkner and Nicole Goddard all stepped in to complete the squad. The game was up and down from the word go with Roman Glass pulling away to a 4-1 lead. Hucclecote began to settle and pulled back to end the first quarter up by 1 goal.
A change in centre position saw no real difference in the overall team performance, Hucclecote players were finding it difficult to gel as a squad on the day, lot's of personal errors were creeping in with at least 11 footworks in the first half with a slippy floor to contend with. Hucclecote finished the first half up by 3.
A change in the line up saw defence changes with Toms moving to GD and Goddard coming on at GK, in attack Pratten returned at C, with Bedford moving to WA and Joll across to GA. Hucclecote fundamently had to change the style of play and keep posession of the ball better in the second half. Anna Joll still suffering from flu came off for the last quarter with Carly Taylor returning to GA, not before in her captains role, saying a few tough words to the Hucclecote squad - "it's up to us if we want to win this game" - that we did. A determined last quarter saw all the players working tirelessly to keep our noses in front. Anna Toms and Nicole Goddard worked their socks off in defence picking up vital rebounds to enable Hucclecote to regain possession of the ball. Hucclecote pulled through winning the game by 45-40.
Thanks go to Anna Toms, Nicole Goddard and Hannah Faulkner for stepping in.
