Lightning had to dig deep to hang onto a thoroughly deserved win over Gloster Ladies A team.

Play was evenly contested throughout the first half with goals going virtually with centre passes. Great shooting by Millie Price for Lightning & the Glos GS, ensured both teams were never more than 1 goal apart.

At the back, the defence partnership of Eleri Sewell & Lizza Mitchell is improving & both players intercepted & tipped ball, particularly during the 2nd & 3rd quarters.

Georgia Wing at C, in only her 3rd game in Division 1, is getting better every week, challenging & contesting players far more experienced.

As ever, Kat Honeywill at WA played well, feeding the shooters & keeping her head under pressure. Beccy Woodhead at WD, backed up the attack & brought the ball through court strongly.

A switch in the shooting circle between Burgess & Price, immediately paid off, with Lightning scoring 4 goals without any reply from Glos. Burgess at GA, now had the space to move & shoot ( 10/11) & Price in the circle, out dodged the GK to net 12/15 in the 2nd half.

Young Rebecca Campbell, making her debut in the 1st Division, came on at WD. She hassled her opponent, a far more experienced WA, forcing her into errors & took a clean intercepton in her 15 minutes on court.

Going into the final quarter 5 goals up, Lightning should have run out comfortable winners, but credit to Glos Ladies who stepped up a gear & began to close the gap.

In a nailbiting final few minutes, Lightning had to dig deep to hold on as Ladies chipped away at the slim lead.
