Hucclecote Storm v Cheltenham Ladies

Storm had a squad of 9 this week with a versatile team however there were injuries affecting the team. Maisie started at Gs with Stella at GA and Gemma on the WA. Gemma made some great drives through court and fed the circle well. Stella placed some great balls into Maisie along with Becky at C. Emily at WD, backed up court well with Laura at GD and Chrissie at GK. Defence hassle their shooters well but unfortunately couldn’t break down the accuracy of their shooting. The quarter ended 6-6 and storm knew they had to pick their game up from now on if they were going to come away with a win.

The second quarter change because of Laura got an injury she felt in the first quarter and was unable to take any further part Eleri came onto GD and turned some great ball in the defence with back up from Chrissie. Mia at WD making some great tips and helping the defence brings the ball through court. Becky and Gemma interlinked well and Gemma was driving to the circle edge and placing some fantastic ball into the shooters. The shooters were pressurised from a physical Chelt ladies defence but held their own overall.

The third quarter Maisie shot well with Stella feeding some great balls. Mia moved from WD to WA and Gemma moved into the C where she took control. Emily hassled well at WD and defence continued to turn more and more ball which allowed storm to take the lead in this quarter 28-19. Half way through this quarter Gemma went down injured, Becky came onto the court to finish the quarter in the C position.

The final quarter Emily moved to WA with Mia moving to WD. Storm continued to pull away their lead and play some intelligent netball. Storm made some mistakes throughout the game but also made some great turnovers and converted well. Storm needed to start doing this at the start of the game in future and this gives the squad something to work towards.

Another good squad performance well done girls.
