The Regional A team travelled the short distance to New College Swindon on Sunday to play their second game of the season against Raychem. Hucclecote were a little concerned as potentially 2 of their players were stuck in traffic on the M4. Luckily Pratten arrived in plenty of time but we had to start without Bedford.
There were a couple of changes to Regional A's normal line up, with Smith starting on the WA and Brooks on the GD. Hucclecote went out strong and dominated from the start, finishing the quarter leading 11-7.
The second quarter saw Pratten coming on at the WA, Hucclecote continued working tirelessly to keep their lead, turning the ball at every opportunity, extending their lead 19-13 at the end of the quarter.
During the half time break Bedford finally arrived and was given 1 minute to kit up and get on court at WA. Within the first few minutes Iffil called time and had to come off, this saw Bedford moving in to the middle and Pratten onto the WA.
Going into the final quarter Hucclecote were leading 28-22, Raychem started on a high and got with in 4 goals, there was a lot of side line support for Raychem and there was concern that the atmosphere and adrenaline could dominate, but Hucclecote challenged this and ended the game winning 38-27.
During the game Claire Richards made 8 interceptions and 8 tips and is fully deserving of player of the match.
Team: Michelle Dowle (capt), Carly Ann Taylor, Harriet Pratten, Lucy Smith, Caroline Bedford, Michaela Iffil, Caroline Crawford, Lauren Brooks and Claire Richards
