After a much delayed start due to an accident on the M5, holding up an umpire, it was Hucclecote B who took an early lead, with Bonar and Goddard making hard work for the A team shooters. The A team defence took time to settle while Edwards at GS for the B team dominated the shooting circle. At quarter time the B team lead.
A re-shuffle to the A teams centre court and shooting circle saw Joll introduced at WA and Banyard out to GA and Dowle to GS in an attempt to create more opportunities. While the A team were able to narrow the gap slightly the B team maintained to play some excellent netball and at half time still led.
With further changes to the A team, which saw Pratten introduced at WD, Bedford back on but to C and Taylor onto the GA. The tables finally turned and the A team began to show why they are in contention for the title. This first time attacking line up settled quickly, moving the ball at pace and finding the shooters with ease, who converted consistently. For the first time in the game the A team finished the period up.
Going into the last quarter, with no changes to the line up Hucclecote A continued their form, with the defensive unit of Richards and Garbertt-Roberts now turning more ball controlling their circle. The game was fiercely contested throughout and most certainly a game of two halves. Credit should go to the B team for their outstanding play in the first half and for making the A team work for their win. Final score 47-37.
