Regional League v Jersey                   27th February

This was always going to be an interesting game as we were without Millie who was on her ski trip and Jersey were top of the league by virtue of the fact that they had played more games than anybody else. It soon became apparent that this was going to be close because, despite a great first quarter we were 10-12 down! Kellie was brought on to offer height in the circle and made an immediate difference. Sensible feeding from both Grace and Lydia allowed the shooters to settle and we clawed back the deficit and pulled away to lead 24-20 at half time. The Jersey shooters had an outstanding first half only missing 3 goals in total. They were calm and skilful and seemed oblivious to Alix and Tegenís attempts to put them off their shooting. With the girls getting into their stride but the score still close the team stayed the same to help with consistency. Georgia continued to pile on the pressure in the centre court and Hannah and Kellie really settled together in the third quarter, scoring freely. We finished the qurter strongly with the score at 42-33. Jersey came back for the last quarter fighting and were outstanding, taking us by surprise. The attacks found it more difficult to find the shooters and our saviours were Tegen and Alix who decided to jump rather than lean when defending their shots. This was successful and unsettled them making them miss 6 shots. We clung on to win 51-47 with a tense last few minutes. Had we played this well against Lawn we would not have lost!
