Hurricanes took to the court knowing this wasn’t going to be an easy game against Old Chelts. The game started and it was a tough start going goal for goal however with Hannah netting her shots and the defence working hard seen the ball move through the court and for Hurricanes to take the lead at the end of the first quarter by 2.
In the second quarter the defence worked hard and tipped many a ball.
Hurricanes continued to fight hard, and with a player down already didn’t feel it was worth getting injured so ensured we came off and out thought our opponents instead of out sprinting them.
Hucclecote held their heads going into the last quarter and even though we were trailing we did not give up, we played the ball round well and defence turned some brilliant ball. After seeing two of our players being floored Hurricanes knew we had to dig deep here, defence turned the ball and we scored with some great play through the court giving the quick release, the ball was going bang, bang, bang however when the final whistle went it just wasn’t quite enough however we got 2 points from the game losing 29-25.
Congratulations to Flo Edwards, this was her first game back after a severe injury which has seen her out of the sport for several months and still not allowing to be in the Shooting circle.
Hannah is in a brace from her hip to her ankle and looks to be out now until further notice.
Well done to the whole squad, it wasn’t a result we wanted but we kept our discipline and our pride.
Squad: Hannah Evans, Pollyanna Banyard, Sam Hogg (C), Georgia Wing, Holly Walker, Tonia Donoghue, Hannah Brewer Flo EdWards and Becky Campbell
Player of the Match: Becky Campbell – Becky came on for Tonia and hassled the GS well, she put the pressure on and turned lots of ball. She was disciplined and deserved this nomination today – Well Done Becky – Outstanding.
