A fantastic team effort saw Lightning overhaul Challengers to gain a place in the semi finals of the Bateman cup.

With a number of team tied players unavailable, Lightning were left with a bare 7 to take the court.

Maisie Simmonds at GS was in fine form, with Challengers defence unable to contain the youngster who netted 28/34 & with Wendy Burgess supporting at GA converting 16/17, Lightning had almost made up the handicap by 3/4 time.

Older sister Lily had to fill the vacant GK position, joining Nicky Jennings in defence. Together they restricted the Challengers shooters & with Lydia Burgess at WD tipping & chasing down every ball, Hucclecote began to dominate in the 2nd half.

Gemma Lott & Holly Duerdon, sharing C & WA moved the ball through court & fed both shooters well.

It was a great performance from the whole team, however player of the match was awarded to Lydia Burgess.
