27 April 2009 - Hucclecote U16's
Through to National finals!

Hucclecote dominated in Bath yesterday - not only emerging as SouthWest Champions, but also taking both the shooting titles.

As winners of the Regional North league, Hucclecote met up for a re match with Bournemouth, runners up in Reg. North & St. Austell, winners Reg South League & Exeter runners up.The competition was a round robin, with all teams playing each other in 40min matches.

Hucclecote's first game against West of Exeter, was a close one for the 1st half with Hucclecote failing to establish any consistency in their play. With changes at half time, Hucclecote began to take control & dominate, finally taking the match 34 - 19.

In the first break, all teams took part in the shootout, where every squad member took 1 shot at goal, with the winning team scoring the most collectively. With 7/10 Hucclecote players netting their shots, they won the trophy by 1 goal over St. Austell!

The 2nd match against Bournemouth, who Hucclecote had met & beaten previously in the season, proved to be their closest of the day, only winning by 7 goals, 34 - 27.

The next break involved the 2 nominated shooters from each team to take a total of 10 shots from different spots. The Hallbrook sisters, Rhianna & Lydia, put on an amazing diplay of shooting, not only converting all 10, but then having to continue against each other in a sudden death! After another 8 successful shots from both, Rhianna missed 1 which Lydia converted so taking the shooters shootout title!

The final match of the day V St.Austell was won fairly comfortably 32-15. Hucclecote now go on to the National finals in Loughborough on May 9th.
