13 January 2008 - Hucclecote U.16's Storm to Victory
Hucclecote stamp authority in U.16 Regional League

Hucclecote U.16's secured two well earned victories today in their first round regional matches.  Their first game against Teambath Tigers saw Hucclecote out the blocks at lightening pace and with Sam Cook playing her debut game at GD with Hannah Jones at GK for the u.16's,  Tigers were unable to score in the first period with Hucclecote taking the lead 9-0.  At the other end of the court, Rhianna Hallbrook's confidence and accuracy saw conversion rate sore and with Ella Gardner stepping into GD during the 2nd phase helped Hucclecote's lead 19-3 at half time.  Fran Preedy who earned player of the match used her speed and agility well, and combined with Helen Werrell whose performance has gone up a level this season helped secure a superb first victory 45-9.

Their 2nd game against Almondsbury saw a changed line-up with Sam Cook restricted whilst she makes her come back to netball.  Captain Lily Simmonds was moved to GD and utilised her height to counteract the Almondsbury shooting circle.  Again it was the excellent conversion rate from Hallbrook netting over 80%+ in both games that aided Hucclecote's lead. Half-time saw Hucclecote revert back to their starting line-up from the earlier game, and their speed and athletism was no match for Almondsbury winning 44 goals to 18 at the final whistle.  Rhianna Hallbrook was named as player of the match.
