Season Review – Thunder
• Won 14, D 1, L 3
• Goal difference of 233 one of the highest in the league
• 5 point winning margin
We set a target of winning Division 4 to lessen the gap between Storm in Div 1 and our next team. We started the season really strong securing 9 wins in a row up until Christmas. Steelers, Randwick and Challengers remained close behind us winning a similar number of games. Prior to Christmas several players moved to Storm. Whilst they absolutely deserved their chance to play higher we did lose some structure and had to rely on new combinations. We had a bit of a shock on our return after Christmas when we were lucky to secure a draw against bottom of the table Stroud. It showed the resilience of the players as we were losing by 4 with only a few minutes to go. Thankfully we won the next game against Challengers who were close behind us. We had to continue to build and lost the next 2 games but started to find our feet again and saw out the rest of the season securing wins where they were needed. The team really started to gel and combinations were working well. Prior to the last game of the season we’d already secured top position but lost to Steelers which was unfortunate but they had a lot to gain by winning. The result didn’t matter and we managed to achieve our aim of moving to Division 3 for next season.
