17 February 2008 - U16's - Sunday 10th February
U16's fought hard against Tommy's and Ranwick

Hucclecote U16’s vs Tommys: 18-18

As the girls took the court it was a tense start with both teams scoring off their own centres and at the end of the first quarter the score was level 3-3. Tommy’s were quick and very strong in attack and took advantage from a poor pass from Hucclecote to take the lead with a centre pass in hand. It looked like Tommy’s were going to pull away, however strong defensive play from Charlie Vye and Emma Butterworth meant that Hucclecote were able to overturn the ball and score. During the last quarter Tommy’s still had the lead, but Hucclecote had not given up. Excellent determination and skill brought the score line back to level with a Hucclecote centre…however, just as it was taken the final whistle went. A great result to bring the score back to a draw and a fantastic effort from all the players involved.

Hucclecote U16’s vs Randwick: 16-22

The second match of the day for Hucclecote was to be against Randwick. Hucclecote struggled to find form and a lack of decisive movement resulted in many long wild passes enabling Randwick to intercept and take the lead. At half time they were still positive that they could bring the game back. The girls gave it their all but fitness was a key factor and it was clear that the girls had worked so hard in the earlier match against Tommy’s and it had taken its toll on all involved.  Yet the display of effort and positive attitudes from all the players was encouraging as they knew they had the ability to up their game. Unfortunately the score line finished 22 – 16 to Randwick. A disappointing result but a great physical effort from all.
